First, the Christian calling is a call to salvation. Scripture describes salvation as the foundational aspect of our calling, as we “were called by [God] into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Cor 1:9). This is why the Bible identifies all believers as “those who are the called” (Jude 1:1) and as those who “share in a heavenly calling” (Heb 3:1).
